Terms of Use

Last reviewed 2026-09-13. Plain terms for a free service.

Acceptance

By using this site you agree to these terms. If you do not agree with them, do not use the site. The tools are offered free of charge and without registration.

What you may do

You may use the tools for any lawful purpose, including commercial work, and you may process files and data belonging to your employer or your clients, provided you have the right to do so. The results you produce with the tools are yours; this site claims no rights over the output.

What you may not do

No warranty on results

The tools are provided as is, without warranty of any kind. The algorithms are correct implementations of published standards and are tested against reference values, but no guarantee is given that a result is fit for a particular purpose, and you should verify anything important independently.

This matters most in two areas. Compliance specifications — passport and visa photo dimensions, for example — are compiled from published requirements that change without notice, and only the receiving authority can accept or reject a submission. Cryptographic output is correct as an algorithm, but whether a given hash or encoding is appropriate for your security requirement is a judgement this site cannot make for you; the explanations aim to give you what you need to make it.

Limitation of liability

To the extent permitted by law, this site and its operator are not liable for any loss arising from use of the site or reliance on its output, including lost files, wasted time, rejected applications, or business losses. Keep your originals. Every processing tool on this site is a transformation of something you already hold a copy of, and that copy is your archive.

Intellectual property

The site's written material, layout and code are the work of the site's operator. The specifications and standards described are the work of their respective bodies — the IETF, NIST and others — and are referred to by citation rather than reproduced. Where a page describes a third-party product or platform size, that name belongs to its owner and is used descriptively.

Third-party links

Links to external standards documents and opt-out pages are provided for your convenience. This site does not control those destinations and is not responsible for their content or availability.

Advertising

The site displays advertising, as described in the privacy policy. Advertising has no influence on the content of any tool page or explanation.

Changes

These terms may be updated; the reviewed date at the top of this page changes when they are. Continued use after a change constitutes acceptance of the revised terms.
