An independent collection of browser-based tools, run by one developer.
What the site is
LocalToolkit is a set of small utilities for hashing, encoding, text work, data conversion, images and PDF assembly. All 73 tools share one property: they run entirely inside your browser. There is no backend to send a file to, no account to create, and no upload queue.
Who runs it
The site is built and maintained by an independent developer. It is not a company product, there is no team behind it, and there is no roadmap driven by a business model beyond covering the cost of running it.
How it is funded
Through advertising. Running costs are a domain name and hosting, and ads cover them. Nothing on the site is gated behind a payment, an account or a quota — the tools work the same whether or not you block ads.
How the reference material is written
Each tool page carries an explanation of the underlying standard and, where relevant, the numbers that decide whether a result is correct. Where a standard exists it is named — RFC 4180, RFC 4648, RFC 2104, RFC 8259, RFC 3986, FIPS 180-4 — so that the claims can be checked rather than taken on trust. Where a figure is an empirical observation rather than a specification, such as the practical pixel ceiling for a given file size, it is described as such.
We do not use invented statistics or unsourced survey numbers. If a claim cannot be traced to a specification, a published study or a reproducible measurement, it does not appear.
Technology, briefly
Pages are generated as plain HTML at build time so they load quickly and are readable without JavaScript. The interactive part is one dependency-free script containing hand-written implementations of the algorithms, and the file-handling uses the browser's own file and codec APIs. No analytics scripts, no third-party trackers, and no frameworks.
