Resize an Image for Instagram Portrait Post

The dimensions
1080 × 1350 pixels, an aspect ratio of about 0.80:1. The 4:5 ratio occupies more vertical feed space than a square, which is why it is the standard for portrait-oriented content.
Crop, and what you will lose
If you upload a 4:5 image, nothing outside that rectangle survives — the extra height of a 2:3 photo is discarded, not letterboxed.
Why 4:5 rather than 1:1
The feed displays both ratios at the same width, so a 4:5 image is 25 percent taller on screen for the same horizontal footprint. On a phone that is the difference between occupying a third of the viewport and nearly half. The trade-off is that anything composed for a square will lose about ten percent from each side when re-cropped into 4:5.
How to crop it here
Selecting cover scales your image uniformly until it fills the 1080 × 1350 rectangle, then trims the overflow from the centre. Contain would leave empty bands instead, which is wrong for an image meant to fill a frame, and stretch would distort faces.
